8 Life Lessons to Feel Better – Happiness, Health, Wealth

Without further ado, here are eight life lessons to feel better, focusing on happiness, health, and success. Try some in your daily routine and watch how wellness improves with ease.

1. Learn About Nutrition

Our health is our wealth, and nutrition is one of the basic building blocks of health. The phrase you are what you eat is not just a cliche motto. It is the truth. This is because what we eat becomes the nutritional building blocks that our body uses to continue living. This becomes even more important if you are working out or exercising since you need good nutrition to recover from your daily activity. Every person is different. Some people will thrive on a keto or low-carb diet, some individuals like the Mediterranean diet, and others prefer a diet rich in carbohydrates and protein.

There are many ways to eat correctly. My recommendation is to try out different things and find out what works and what doesn’t work for your body. Personally, I enjoy a well-balanced breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a heavy dinner around 7:00 p.m. This is just what works for me and comes from trial and error. 2. Focus on Cardio and Strength

When things are going well in our bodies, we should want to move. This means wanting to exercise, work out, strength train, or do cardio. A healthy body is a body that enjoys movement. We are designed to hang, pick up, put down, swing, throw, catch, etc.

Make movement a priority in your life. Start with something as simple as 5-minute walks daily. Moving a habit is critical in developing fitness and exercise into your daily routine. You don’t have to go to the gym six times a week or train for 2 hours a day. This kind of all-or-nothing mentality leads to burnout. Instead, start slow with a little bit of daily movement or go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week. Increase this as you see fit.

3. Limit News Consumption

There is no escaping the news, that is true. However, it’s important to know that the news is biased and negative. There’s no good news report out there. That’s why it’s important to limit news consumption as much as you can.

That does not mean being misinformed or clueless about what is going on in the world. For example, I have found that I do better reading an article about ongoing issues or problems as opposed to watching a segment on TV about it. This is just a better way for me to know what’s going on without damaging my mental health. Make sure you are doing something of the sort. If you watch news channels daily, try to limit it to only about an hour a day, since any more can lead to detrimental mental health issues and emotional fatigue.

4. Forgive the Past

The past is set in stone, and you cannot change that. That is why it’s so important for us to learn about ways of dealing with past regrets and overcoming them. Here is a full article on how to do so, however, a big part of this is forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not about whether or not the other person is sorry. Holding on to negative emotions about something that happened in the past is not beneficial to the present you. Forgiveness is about your healing, it’s not about the other person. The best revenge is living a life that is full and beautiful.

5. Surround Yourself with Success

Just like the phrase you are what you eat, you are who you surround yourself with. That means if you want to be more successful, surround yourself with successful people. If you want to be happier, surround yourself with happier people.

This is because the habits of others become your own. If the people in your circle are motivating you, pushing you, and helping you thrive, then there is no way you can fail. On the other hand, if the people around you are negative, lack motivation, or toxic, then all you can do is fall further within that group.

6. Live in the Moment

There’s nothing simpler than living in the moment. It is about knowing where you are in time and appreciating it. We take for granted the time we are given, and mindfulness is a practice that makes us stop and think about it.

Living in the moment is about mindfulness and choosing to concentrate on the now. Enjoy the good times, without worrying about the past or future. Check out a full guide on how to include mindfulness in your everyday life here.

7. Do Self Work

Some aspects of ourselves need work. This can range from self-talk, which is the way you speak about yourself in your head all the way to self-acceptance, which is admiring and appreciating yourself. Self-talk can be improved, check out the full guide here. Self-acceptance and self-love, on the other hand, can be a bit more difficult.

If self-love is hard, try this technique here instead. Having at the very least self-respect and a bit of admiration for yourself is an easier step than jumping into self-love if you find that too difficult. It’s the difference between body positivity and body neutrality. If you don’t feel positive about your body, you can at the very least feel neutral. You can observe how it does its job, how it heals a cut into a scab, and how it takes you from one moment to the next.

8. Be Kind

Kindness is free. The kindness you give yourself and the kindness you show others is free. Aim to be kind, volunteer if you can, and treat others how you would want to be treated.

Treat yourself how you would treat others as well. We tend to be our harshest critics. Therefore, aim to be kind in your life.
